Most of the antivirus software in use on PEI is not cutting it, PERIOD. From missing viruses, locking up the PC, corrupting it’s own database, taking down corporate servers, like Exchange, or Windows 2000, just from an update, not getting the “automatic” updates is very common. So after getting call after call from people with virus related problems, I decided to, test and test and test some more. I researched for an antivirus product until I found one that was getting great reviews, good customer testimonials, and winning the antivirus software awards. After downloading trial versions of both of my choices, I loaded them one 2 different Win 2000 test computers. Then I collected (on Floppies) all the viruses (files) that I was “cleaning” for 2 weeks. I collected 256 different virus’ and copied them to the test computers. After all was said and done ONLY Panda antivirus caught all of them. Then I ran it again monitoring the CPU time and the background process, Panda amazed me, buy not using up much CPU time, it is not what we call in this business “a resource hog” like other software. So, my decision was to buy some Panda licenses, give them away, and see how our customers like it. Not only could I not buy Panda locally, one of my suppliers on Ontario couldn’t get it. So we became a Panda Business Partner with Panda Software Canada. Yes going out and repairing virus problems is profitable, so why did I work so hard to find a better solution? Because we do not want our customers to have virus related problems, we’ll leave that to our competitors. Panda antivirus, a great product and we sell it at a lot less than anything else on the market.
